I'll pick the guy from Toronto
The Globe has published a handy "interactive tool" so we can get to know candidates for the Liberal leadership. (Also known as the most thankless task since stretcher bearers were made redundant by technology in the second world war). I wonder how long this leader will last, and what they will have to fail at before they get the boot. It would be strange if the liberal party got more reactive and erratic, not less, for the next 4- 7 years. That's what happened to the Conservative/Reform/Alliance, before they finally settled down and got Harper to steer the ship.
Additionally, with the exception of two Easterner's all the candidates are from Toronto. That is there are nine candidates, seven of whom represent Toronto ridings. I don't feel quite good about that, strategically it makes the Libs seem like the party that represents middle class, middle of Canada politics, and it certainly doesn't do anything to widen their base of support.
The Conservative movement regained it's strength by building an new base in the West, and then growing support in Ontario and (trying to do the same) in Quebec.
Why aren't the liberals leaving their backyard?
