window coverings

I am only writing this because I am not in the mood to put up window plastic but I have no choice. It's too cold here not to.

I am so glad to be home... I love my dusty apartment with dodgy appliances, and I love my dog and I love the snobby market down the street where I go to buy cheap gourmet cheese, ( take that snobby cheese store in Parkdale - I hear your fancy words for rind and I reject them).

I even love that my cat just shed buckets of white hair all over the mahogany coloured bed cover I got for Christmas, although I am going to stop loving that in about 2 days.

I miss my family and friends already. Now that the refrain of when are you going to move back home has subsided slightly I gotta say, I am still happy to be here. If I could fold up the map of Canada like those old Mad magazine fold-in covers, to make Toronto and Montreal sit closer together I would in a heartbeat. As it is I guess I am stuck loving two places in equal measure for different reasons.

there's a snobby cheese store in parkdale? pray tell. and in a totally unrelated tangent, the downstairs neighbours are in the midst of their weekly marathon hump. sweet dreams for me tonight.

There are some who call Toronto and Montreal "Monronto" -- it's nice, I think. I think it came out of a response to American's who see indie bands from either city as being from the same place.

Yeah and Toreal sounds like a ballet about bull-fighters doesn't it.

It was swell meeting you Shawn. We should totally have an acerbic drink together if you ever manage to visit the coffin.

I'm glad it is cold *somewhere* because it sure is not cold in New York City.

It stopped being cold after about 2 days, I think it was +7 yesterday. The plastic now is serving the purpose of keeping my plague cold germs in, and any clean germ-free air *out* of my apartment.

No, I am not bitter that I have had a cold for a week +. I am perfectly content to be sick in warm weather. In fact, I hope I have avian flu.

Yeah, I'll come back to the coffin one day. Haven't been since '05. Invite me to come give a talk!

But it was good meeting you too -- you reminded me of the character Mary-Louise Parker played on the West Wing. That's good.
