To the Dogs
So Jen, my amazing business partner and friend went on a mission to visit her family/train some new clients this week and she left me her dog Tilu.
Tilu Nanda is a rambunctious and funny little German Sheppard mix. She and Lola (a clumsy and crabby Spaniel/Collie mix) are like a furrier version of oil and water, as in they don't, mix.
I was a bit worried that fisticuffs were going to break out but actually dogs are very much like children; usually when they are forced to stay at a relatives house they are on their best behaviour. So Tilu has been a trooper, a star, an angel. Except when she let out sharp barks as the neighbour came up the stairs last night at midnight. It's weird having two dogs, I really feel like I am parenting, with just Lola all my habits are so reflexive I don't realize I am managing the dog. With Tilu and Lola it turns into a negotiation - "Okay I'll sit in the middle, that way you don't have to sit next to each other on the couch" etc...
I am beginning to wonder how it is that people get the brilliant idea of having a second child? Is it that they forget how much work they are doing with the first kid? I mean, I certainly feel lucky because there is a number one blessing in my life and that is Evan - but really? The times we were like a "Tilu Lola Couch Fight" when we were wee? Too many times to count.
