Music is my hot hot sex
Why can I write blog posts and not essays? Maybe it's because I have to write sentences like this;
"This essay seeks to argue that the splintering of the church and the displacement of cultural and moral authority to a discourse of science, was neither the effect of print nor culture alone but a wholly novel admixture of both which produced an efflorescence of Biblical translation, skepticism and market choice, which has continued up to the present day to dilute theological discourse, while it more firmly entrenches the discourse of scientific objectivity as truth in the West."
I sure hope any of you reading this are also listening to music is my hot hot sex, it's the only way to read academic texts. That's one sentence for petes sake. Maybe it should be more than one, you'll let me know right? You always have to add in the West now, or else you are universalizing. Lesson Numero uno in academic writing.
At work today Dan and I were talking about how he doesn't buy Christmas presents and he said "Last year we bought a donkey for Christmas" I quote. It was a donkey for a town in the global south, so for Christmas he and his wife just sent everyone on their lists greeting cards with a picture of the donkey on the front:
"Look we bought this donkey with your present money. Peace on earth everyone"
Awesome.
In unrelated news: While I was working on my outline the phone rang and this woman asked in french if I was signed up for first aid classes, I said no, I thought she had a wrong number and she asked did I want information on first aid classes, it was free with no commitment to sign up for classes? I said no again and that I lived alone anyways so I didn't need the classes, then the lady said; "But what if someone is visiting and gets in an accident? Ambulances don't come so fast these days you know?" I said I really didn't want any literature on taking a first aid course, and she asked me if "My mother was at home". I mean I know my french is at the grade four level, but still. I thought I sounded older than that.
