Embarrassing or Amazing: it's unclear

I just went and downloaded something called "The 90's Project".

Why? Because I can, because I am old now, and this isn't some misplaced nostalgia, it is nostalgia exactly in the right place - my teen years coming back to haunt me 15 years later.

Also because "She talks to Angels, "Mr. Wendall", "Them Bones", "Evenflow", "Gangsters Paradise", The "Mmm Mmmm Mmmm" song, and "Laid" are going to rock my world. I can feel it.

However, if I start showing up for things wearing a pair of seriously ripped jeans, waffle knit long johns and a plaid shirt feel free to render me unconscious.

I don't mind...

What I am listening to this morning...

Monday Morning Fleetwood Mac

Monday morning you sure look fine, Friday I've got traveling on my mind.
You know it's true, you know only want me when i can't go for you,
First you love me and then you get on down the line

I am in a freakishly good mood, I think it's because when I snuck out to the Starbucks to buy coffee for everyone on the team (as usual) I also bought a chicken sandwich that had crusts and mayonnaise and cheese and a tomato and a piece of green lettuce wilting under a piece of chicken breast that did not look like it had been pounded flat by a hammer.

Stop drop and roll

I have been admiring lately, some very honest and personal posts written on Amy's blog. I kinda backed out of the whole writing personal posts thing a while ago, ostensibly because I had my shit together and the whole public sphere confession situation no longer had any attractions. While the second part may be true, the "having my shit together" is a bit of a question mark. Today I think there is need to do a bit of public laundering of personal life issues.

So get ready here comes a long hella-personal post

This morning, after a series of nightmares about housebreakers, dog nappers and people who opened their mouths and had no tongues left me a little, let's say flustered (weeping on couch as of 8:10am). I am making a new plan. To be publicly unveiled here. Mostly so later this fall I can go to parties and people can say; "Oh you're the girl who's decided on celibacy".

I have 10,000 mandolins

I need to stop downloading music. This new system I have feels like Rome before the fall. Entire discographies slide onto my computer sans effort, sans payment. It does in fact, feel like robbery, because it is. I don't care about the revolution in information sharing. The reason I should pay for these songs is because I cannot make them, not because I support the "recording industry".

I now own the entire Magnetic Fields discography. Note to self: go out and buy a struggling musician a mandolin ASAP.

Speaking of the power of P2P here is the first Magnetic Fields song I ever heard: Strange Powers. Things it make me think of:
