Tube lady sacked for being hilarious

in

Deadline is adding such a silver lining to my increpitude.

Emma Clarke is the voice of the London Underground. Ie; she records the little announcements telling people which lines are down and what to do about it. As she states one her website: "You’ve got the microphone. It’s a Monday morning. There are hundreds of bored commuters listening. The temptation is simply too much…" and then goes off and records a heap of silly announcements some of which are golden. Personal favorite: "Would passengers filling in their sudokus..."

Jane has great bips

in

Jane: "How many K'bips are you getting?"

Mir: "What?"

Jane" K'bips, K'bips!"

Mir: "Are you referring to Kilobytes?"

Jane: "No K'bips, and by the way how many seeders and leeches do you have?"

Mir: "Are you talking in Yiddish? There is no such thing as a K'bip"

Jane: "Sure there is, there are K'bips and 1024 K'bips makes one Gigabip."

Mir: "You're making yourself laugh now, it's not in wikipedia I just checked, it says the short forms are K KB and Kilobyte."

Ave Maria this, padre.

Today, I have a sore stomach for no reason at all so if the last three days of jet-lag have been boring then this one totally takes the cake. I am actually sad that I do not own any exciting multimedia type video games whatchamacallits, and that I don't have a dvd or even a speak and spell.

Lucky I do have solitaire on my phone, and Deadline on the Facebook.

Speaking of which, here is a great story clipped verbatim:

Oh My Scottish Lass

in

The best part of the end of the year is that people's who job it is to tell me what to like, produce "best of" lists, condensing a year's worth of professional criticism, ignored by yours truly, into handy concise lists that I do not ignore.

This woman, KT Tunstall was actually part of a radiophonic list, on the CBC interviewed as part of a best of 2007 etc.. I started searching for her music based on her adorable Scottish burr and because she had a lot of nice things to say about hitting 30 and finding your path a little later in life.

Anyways the point being that I can't decide whether to worship her in the older sister kind of way, or in the I'm drooling at her boots and the adorable geeky "excitement" in covering the Jackson 5, and the striped teeshirt and the way she says "merci beaucoup" at the end of this live set. And yes her album is great, and you should go buy it.

Sigh....Those boots.
